controll multiple track devices with the same knob?
hello
if i had multiple tracks that all had the same devices is there a way to assign a knob to change the same parameter in the selected track?
i.e. if i had for example a 3 band eg on 4 different tracks could i make 3 knobs controll each band on whatever track is selected ?without changing the output of the actual knob

yes it is possible, i have done it!
two ways -
1. with mackie emulation and a compatible controller - BCF2000, etc.
super easy.
2. with plogue bidule and midi yoke / IAC. a lot of setup work. a lot. but i created the plogue file to let u do this.
many tracks, all with eq and compressor. the same knobs control the same parameters on the track i select.
if u havent, check out plogue and yoke, get them running, and i could elaborate.

please elaborate on your mackie emulation setup, ben. i know how the basic ME works on the bcf - that yes, you'd be using the "same knob" to tweak EQ. but as far as i've seen we're not talking about the VERY SAME knob, am i making any sense?
if i have a set with 8 tracks, how can i get track 5 to be controlled by the first fader channel?
also if you're using mackie mode, is it possible to rework any assignments which are used under the emulation. i know you can map the upper buttons in lower shift.

no i h mentioned two ways
1 - easy way - Mackie mode. u cant change anything, or, i never have.
2. hard way. doesnt involve mackie mode at all. it involves plogue bidule and midi yoke/ IAC. you would need some expereince in plogue to do it.
basically, you assign the same CCs to parallel FX parameters on the 8 tracks, cascading midi channels as the tracks go up. EX.- comp threshold track 1 CC 1 channel 1, comp threshold track 2 CC 1 channel 2, etc...then you make one seperate control that decides what track you control by changing what midi channel all this goes through. thus why you keep all of track 1's CC's on channel 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, and so on.
assigning it all is a bitch, but a lot of fun once its done.
make sense, in theory?

yeah, i get the idea of what you're doing in bidule.
i'm wrestling with the decision of whether it's worth it for me to dig deeper into the possiblity of trying to customize this mackie emulation business. i'm still leaning towards NO. especially because a lot of the functions which are wackily placed on the bcf emulation, i can just map to the keyboard

i havent thought about customizng i, or what that would mean, but if you want to figure out exactly what messages are being sent, u can use midiox's monitor to see what they are. then u could assign the relavent ones u want to a different controller or native mode in the BCR.

plogue is the nuts, it can breathe life into any old controller.
last night i set mine up so one button press will turn fully on a send and also invert the channel volume. stick glich on a return track set to "pre" and now i just hit a button and that track plays glitched.... basically means you dont have to have a copy of the fx running on each channel saving loads of cpu.
