sorry for being a bit random here but i thought maybe some people here would appreciate this.
an extremely rare interview with the the late James stinson. I think it was the only interview he ever did. he died only a few months after this. It's quite spooky when he's talking about his health towards the end.

he was a massive influence on me and many others. I still think he made the most amazing electronic music ever. unparralled as far as i'm concerned.

interesting listen

I find it really interesting to hear about his ethos of cutting himself off and how he really worried about external influences tainting his ideas

I've kind of been having the total opposite where for a while I was taking a similar approach but I kind of ground to a halt

I wonder how much of that is down to not believing in your own authenticity and thinking it cant be good without some kind of external gratification or genre categorisation?

definitely inspiring to listen to and I def got the impression he knew he didnt have long left

it's as if his short life was the reason he was so scared of tainting his authenticity - he wanted to make sure what he left behind was totally his

I feel the same way way about "let me be me" off the other peoples place album. I cant place what it is about it but it makes me shivver.

Wow. I admit I was never a huge fan but I an respect a man who has made his bones in the biz and striven to create something unique. Another giant whose shoulders I beg to stand on. I admire dedication on any level. Damn.

Thanks for this link. Drexciyas music is some of the best electronic music to come out of Detroit, actually it is some of the best to come from this planet!

I didn't know he had died. Lets hope he is enjoying his own bubble metropolis

those basssounds are a clear example of what softsynths still can't do
(sorry, just got my first true analog piece of gear today (sh-101) and allready knew but now know again!)
