Tool - 10,000 Days / Vicarious

Post by sweetjesus » Fri Apr 21, 2006 12:21 am

Has anyone else heard the new Tool single?

What do you guys think of it.. I'm a huge Tool / APC fan and for me the track has a massive groove but the music seems pretty rehashed. Sounds more like a chance for drummer (Danny?) to show off his chops. Or maybe he has progressed and the rest of the band has not.

Still, never completely sux to hear Tool.

I concur... it sounds a lot like the last album. Similar rhythms and riffage but I can't help myself from rocking out to it.

New Tool is something to get excited about.

here was the process for me

first listen: ok, sounds like tool.
second listen: hmm... seems like tool are on top of their game.
third listen: (lyrics being understood) enjoying the song greatly

this song is the best tool single since stinkfist and i know thats being bold. i am highly anticipating this album. word on the street is that its amazing.

sure it might seem like a mesh between lateralus and aenima but wtf is wrong with that????? doesnt the roll n stones sound like the fucking roll n stones every single album?

there is nothing wrong with sounding like yourself lol.

this song rocks, and the album is goign to rock.

(album has leaked, though i choose not to listen to it or download it)

may 2nd i wait :D

It's a Tool album. Of course it'll be good.
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

i'm as big of a fan of tool as the next guy (have all of their albums), but come on, this song is boooooring. it's an uninspired riff (for tool, i mean), repeated for five minutes too long. it's definitely not the next stinkfist, i'll tell you that much. maynard obviously has no part of the song writing process anymore, you can tell the music was finished before he started writing his vocal part. f'ing lame ass perfect circle, taking maynard away from what really matters.

that's exactly how i feel. lateralus had its moments, but it was stale in comparison to aenima. this new song is about on par with the weaker songs off lateralus.

until I hear the album in full, the way they intended it, I'm a huge tool fan on commentary standby, i am quite excited however. The new track sounds toolish, left some to be desired for myself though , but singles can be this way for many reasons. Looking forward to May 2.

Aenema was deff Tools prime album thus far.

lateralus took a few listens, deeper dig for it to click.

everyones saying this album combines the best of both worlds.

so i'll wait and see.

imho the archwelder tour killed anything i heard those guys do in tool.
i think it was just the bassist and guitarist, not sure,
but it was quite a memorable experience....unlike the tool stuff...
for me, anywho...
