Novation Remote SL25 with LIVE 5.2

Using Live 5.2 on a PC and Novation Remote 25 SL; have used latest Novation Setup file from Website (1.5.5878) which loads latest OS (1.0.13) and latest Templates (or at least says its doing that).
The result for me is that LIVE 5.2 is contollable from Remote 25SL, but while the SL25 appears to have all templates loaded including Ableton Automap it is completely unable to control VSTs unless you remove REmote 25 as control surface in Live and manually switch SL25 to template required (say template 4 for Bass-Station)

Have had long conversation with Mick Gilbert at Focusrite/Novation (thanks Mick) and confirmed that my Remote 25 SL seemed to have everything setup and loaded that it needed, but just wouldn't function as intended.

However, when running the Novation Remote installer 1.5.5878 the first thing it says is
"Unable to find a useable version of either Cubase SX3, Nuendo or Reason 3.0.4. Automap will not be available. Do you wish to continue ? Y/N"

So this is pretty suspicious, and it doesn't mention Logic (which I don't have !); first time round I ignored this msg as I was not interested in Cubase or Reason interraction and continued. I have since tried loading the older Remote Installer that comes on the DVD 1.2.5096; this version can't find Cubase or Reason only and similarly says that Auomap will not be available; however I continued and found that the function of the REmote 25SL is identical to later installer. I.E it seems to control LIVE 5.2 (even though Template 40 for Ableton is not loaded !) but will not Automap any VSTs either.

I downloaded Remote Installer 1.5.5878 again and installed it again, just in case, but got same result; so must conclude that this version of installer is incomplete and does not provide full Automap facilities for LIVE as advertised. Mick at Novation has since advised me that he has tried Live 5.2 on a PC with a Remote 25 and found it all OK (in my conversation with him he was using LIVE 5.0.5) , but I am now wondering if he was using a different version of Remote installer from that available on web, not unlikely as he is tech support for the product !

The only other areas that occur are that I do not have my music software loaded on Drive C: and the installer insists on using C: to create /Steinberg/VSTplugin folder , so is it possible that you must have LIVE 5.2 loaded into C: drive for AutomaP ?

Also wondering if some arcane parameter within Remote 25SL is default set incorrectly, but can't see anything too obvious; though the Template EDitor readme 'Troubleshooting' section refers to a setting in GLOBAL called 'Pot/Slid Ovride' which needs to be OFF; this parameter does not exist in my 25SL (which may be because latest installer hasn't put it there ??!!)

The solution to my problem was very simple, so for anyone else as stupid as me/ or inexperienced with LIVE like me, you must click on Title Bar of small Plugin windown that opens in View area below Tracks to select it; it is not automatically picked up by Automap if you don't. Even changing voices in the Plugin panel, or clicking on spanner for full GUI display does not 'select' the plugin from an Automap point of view (though perhaps it should), though obviously does for normal manual control of Plugin !
