Track timing issue with Stylus

Post by psylens » Wed Apr 26, 2006 8:45 pm

Hi, i've tried looking in the Ableton forums and Spectrasonics knowledge base and couldn't find anything about this.

I have a timing issue when syncing to an external clock. Stylus is tight with the timing when i'm running off my own clock, however i am working with a group of artists and we all run off a common external clock. When i do this, and run stylus with other percussion elements, stylus is off by ~50 miliseconds (slow, i think). Stylus is the only element (that i know of) that is out of synch in concert with audio, vsts and hardware instruments. Is this a known problem? Is there a known solution? I've tried ableton's "track delay" but it seems to do *NOTHING* - i've sat with the other two members and we all tried changing 'track delay' and nothing changes for anybody - is there something we're doing wrong? Why doesn't the track delay work? Help please!!

I'm running:
ableton 5.2
on a pc (xp sp2)
Stylus RMX 1.5 (latest i could find on site as of last week)
synching with external clock generated from drum machine
- thru a midisport 2x2

Please help with any info you may have, this is really really bad for our setup - we really need stylus in the mix, but it won't work unless i'm providing the master clock - this presents an issue for other members who wish to get stylus and use it live as well. Rendering audio isn't acceptable either, as we need the improvisational capabilities of stylus in a live situation.

thanks,
.psy
