cut & paste bpm info?
cut & paste bpm info?
hello, i don't post much here at all but i have a question that i would like to know the answer to.
in session mode, i like to arrange my clips for each live show in the order that plan to play them. i can select all the clips for a song and cut & paste the scenes into a new spot just fine- but all the bpm info i had put into the master track column is gone. it's not a big deal cause i can just go back and type in "140bpm" or whatever, but it's pain. any way around it?
hmm that would work for some things, but sometimes i want to move songs around in the set- like the other night i played at a house night (i don't play house but they were doing an "experimental" showcase) so instead of finishing with my usual frantic tracks, i wanted to move my more housy ones from their usual spots in the middle of the set to the end so that the dj could mix in some house when i was done my set. but when i moved those scenes from the middle to the end it lost the bpm info. does that make sense?
thanks for the help tho!.

I can think of an unsavory way to do it with an external MIDI router like MidiYoke or IAC.
You could have Ableton's tempo, firstly, assigned to CC#xyz.
Then, you could have a MIDI track that is sending midi to an IAC. The only thing it ever sends out is CC-xyz. Each scene would have this MIDI track assigned to the correct value.
Finally, route the IAC back into Ableton as a Remote input.
icky, but it would work...

Code: Select all
Ableton MIDI Track (sending out cc#xyz on channel#x)

IAC or MidiYoke (routed back to Ableton via "Remote" MIDI input)

Abletron Tempo (cc#xyz)
