Mac X Audio/Midi Setup + Digi 002R
Mac X Audio/Midi Setup + Digi 002R
I'm having problems with the Midi setup on my desktop that i've never had before.
The 002r shows up twice in midi setup, one of them shows one port available and the other shows no ports.
I'm trying to setup a Behringer FCB 1010 and the midi lights blink on the 002r interface which tells me it's receiving midi signal from the 1010,right?
The 1010 is working properly because it controls my Line 6 pod fine.
Now in Live's Prefs. the 002r shows up and the one port shows as available.
However Live is not showing midi activity in the status lights on the upper right meter.
I double checked on my Powerbook's audio/midi setup and the 002r shows as having 2 ports.
What the hell is going on here??...and more importantly can anyone suggest a fix?
I've already reinstalled Pro Tools thinking that some of the midi control files got deleted accidently but that didn't help.
If any of you mac midi guru's have suggestion i'd really appreciate the help.
By the way all of my other midi controllers are working fine, keep in mind those are usb midi(trigger finger,oxy8).......
It's got to be something with digidesigns midi files i'm thinking......
Anyone got any ideas on this one

Hey man.
I have a 002 which exhibits exactly the same problem by the sound of things. No midi i/o at all and no way of re-establishing ports within Audio/Midi setup.
Problem is the system is running on Panther and to do a proper re-install I should really be going to Tiger (which I have on my other Macs) but I resent having to pay for a ProTools upgrade when I use it so irregularly.
Let me know if you get any fix? Oh, and probably better post to the Bugs forum if you haven't already and email Ableton direct.
Good luck.
G4 Desktop DP 1.25 1G ram Lacie D2 80 FW drive Digi 002 (and now RME PCI Multiface which is Sooooooo much better than the 002. Just wish it had mic amps).

try updating your digicore audio audio drivers to 6.9 which was the4ace wrote:I'm having problems with the Midi setup on my desktop that i've never had before.

last version to work in 10.3.9 i think.
after that it's protools 7. (there is one 6.9 driver for tiger too)
Just an update:I tried updating all related software=no go
Emailed tech support and haven't heard from them yet!
So as a workaround i picked up a midisport uno from m-audio and i'm going in usb with everything.
All system are go.

i'm confused alittle by your post (long day at work maybe)
but i use my midi in on my 002r for a faderfox LV1 with no problem, i just turn remote to "on" for the port that the LV1 is plugged into (port 1)
in live's midi prefs i get 2 ports for input and 3 ports for midi output
port 3 is labeled (control) i don't use that one
so port 1 in gets my LV1
and port 1 out sends midiclock for sync
all is happy for me

Believe me mike it's very confusing.
The 002r's ports do show in live's midi prefs and i have remote turned on.
I can tell the 002r is getting midi signal on it's midi light's.
In live however i can't get midi from the 002r.
In my live prefs i'm only showing 1 002r port in and 1 002r port out!
I've got track, sync, and remote all turned on.
It's a moot point now that i'm going in via usb but it sure is a strange problem.
i tried midi in pro tools and it works fine,so the problem is within live.
5.0.3 midi in was working normally.I have trashed and repaired permissions, installed a fresh coreaudio 6.9 from digi and still no go.
Like i said the midisport uno got me up and running, it just sucks not knowing the culprit.

Re: Mac X Audio/Midi Setup + Digi 002R
I have the same setup, but I've never used the midi ports on the 002. I have a midisport 4x4. However, this might be obvious, but are things hooked up properly in your audio/midi setup utility in OS X? If you're seeing light activity, then there is communication going on. Software-wise, something is not configured properly (either in OS X or Live itself). I'd look into OS X first and make sure your studio setup is configured properly. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.
