Preferences.cfg .... again, great...

It's so funny, I figured I would download 5.2 to see if runs any better than 5.0 (since mine caused SPU spikes all of the time still). And alas, upon starting it, I get the infamous Preferences.cfg proglem.

What is more frustrating is that this isn't addressed and I have to search through a bunch of threads trying to find an answer.

Obviously, I couldn't find one.

So, hopefully Alex can give this a proper (Sticky) response.

Hello ntp,

In fact that information is in our FAQ, which I quote now:

"When I try to open Live, I get the following error message: "error reading C:\ProgramFiles\Ableton\Live\Preferences\Preferences.cfg."

Trash the Preferences.cfg file for the version you are trying to open and try again. You will find this file in the following paths:

* Windows (Live 3): (Installation Directory)/Ableton/Preferences
* Windows (Live 4 and 5) C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Ableton\Live\Preferences
* Mac OS 9: /System/Preferences/Ableton
* Mac OS X: /User/Library/Preferences/Ableton"
