Please! Urgent Help Needed! Gig tomorrow night!!!!

Post by musiccatz » Fri Jun 02, 2006 7:50 pm

Hi all, * I really do need your help*

I need to get something sorted ASAP for tomorrow night. I have recently been using Ableton on my eMac, with no probs whatsoever, it runs smooth as anything!

I am playing my first Ableton gig tomorrow, and have just got a brand new MacBook with 2ghz core duo, all singing, all dancin'...you get the idea!

PROBLEM! For some reason Ableton drains the processor by up to 50%, with only 2 clips running!!!! If I try and run 3 or more, it is crippled!!!!!

Now this MacBook is 10 x more powerful than the eMac... I am no technical person, and wondered if any of you might be able to suggest what is going on??? Yours hopefully, and shittin' myself...DJKira aka Musiccatz.

PLEASE HELP

You need to buy the intel compatible version of 5.2. It costs $50. Do a search on the forum. It has been discussed before.

There's an upgrade page if you access www.ableton.com.
Through that you will find the intel mac 5.2 link.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

I'd call'em or email them ASAP, and I'd look at another computer to run this off as an immediate back-up plan. Maybe your old computer that you used before the upgrade?

you dont need to buy anything
the demo works perfect for play back
thats part of the idea.. if your system dies on the road as long as u have your data backedup you grab someones laptop and install a demo version of live and copy your data actross.. no need to validate it .. it plays back perfect till the time you need to save something

Take my word for it.

Use the eMac. Use what works. Sort out the MacBook later. You have work to do. Do the right thing and use the tools that work.
