Ovrdubbing midi automation AND Dj use; referencing clips

Post by James b » Mon Jun 05, 2006 4:34 pm

Hi,

Got two problems that are really putting me off using at the minute.

1) Cheers to longjohns for the audio overdub info. but whats going on when i have a midi clip that i want to record effect modulations using my midi knobs n faders in real time , the first one is fine but when i go for a second run with a differnt parameter on the same effect or a whole different effect the first automation 'red line' is completely flattened! i have overdub on. surely it is possible to record automation of more than one paramter over a track in separate runs? p.s when recording the second run the automation from the first run is audible along with the one now being altered but when finished it has gone!!gone i tell you

2) Not sure there is a solution for this one and its a total annoyance. When using live to dj with, say two tracks, one mp3 in each. it seems impossible to assign a midi contoller to a button that allows choice of the track that becomes the reference track i.e the one that a loop will be applied to for example when triggered using my keyboard, without 'triggering' the track for playback. so this means that you have to use a mouse to double click between audio tracks (completely ruining the 'remote flow' that i want to get going). writing this is sounds petty but if you know you'll know. is their a way around this that i 'am to daft to see? will this be fixed in ABLTN 6

Remember you don't need to have the selected tracks record button on for recording automation only the main records switch at the top. I don't know if that's the problem but thought I should mention this.

i found that overdubbing automation is possible so long as it's not done in cycle mode.
