...on how to make my favorite program even better. I'm sure these have been posted a thousand times, but I find that I don't need to spend a lot of time reading the wishlist.
- "Copy Track" function to duplicate all track settings including effects. This would be a massive time saver.
- Bulk parameter changes, such as changing the colors of multiple clips at once.
- "Group/Ungroup" function, or at least a "glue" function to reassemble fragments into useable loops.
- Numeric keypad support for key entry. Paradigm shifts are a bugger, and every other sequencing package i have uses numkeys for transport controls, etc. Sure, I've gotten used to the difference, but this would make Live all the more accessible for newcomers.
Live's real strength is in its utter simplicity--adding new features is always a risk. I find that I seldom miss having a popup menu for right mouseclick, which is simply stunning. If the rest of the world designed with the same philosophy as Ableton, people would be able to figure out how to program the clocks on their VCRs. Television remotes wouldn't look like ground control centers. Cats and dogs would stop fighting and live peacefully...
Brilliant work.
Small ideas...
Copy Track YEAH!!

Dear umami,
thank you for this fantastic e-mail. We had lots of fun reading it and as far as setting up VCRs is concerned i agree 1000% !!!
We do also agree on your whishes regarding Live.
We cannot solve all problems at once but here is what we can tell you:
One of your four whishes will come true in the next release after 2.1
Cheers, Robert

The bulk parameter change is something that i really yearn for. When i am dragging clips in on the fly and I want to set their quantization to something other than the global setting, it is a pain to have to select each file, change its quantization and then save the settings. Its very time consuming. If I could do this just once it would really speed up the things I can do when putting together a Live set.
thanks for listening
