Midi controller and Volume fades

Post by runner » Mon Jul 21, 2003 9:17 pm

Hello,

I am using a Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller. I am new to the whole live and midi world and am having troubling figuring out how to use my expression pedals to fade in and out the volume of the loops I am running is the session veiw.

If anybody could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Marcus

FCB1010 vs Ableton

Hi Markus,

I've been using the FCB1010 in combination with Ableton Live (1.0 and 2.0) succesfully. Here are some tips, things for you to check and make sure. If you give me some feedback perhaps I can help you pinpoint the problem :

Ableton :
In preferences : Did you define the midi input device so it can see the FCB1010 ?

In the FCB1010 :
In the patch that you select when you try the foot controllers, is (at least) one of the exp. foot controllers deffined correctly ? (Turned ON, controller vallue assigned, min and max vallues assigned ?

Then , in Ableton, if you click the MIDI button and select (click on) a controller in the session view (a fader for example), and next move that exp. controller (or anyother pedal of the FCB1010) you should see a little box appear on the controller that tells you which MIDI value it assigned.

Can you tell me if this works ? If you are not sure wether the PC sees the FCB1010 , or wether the FCB1010 is configured correctly, you might wanna try downloading Bome's SendSX midi tool to debug that part of the configuration first.

In any case, rest assured that what you want is possible. I am triggering samples, adjusting volume and effect feedback in Ableton all from the FCB1010.

Regards, success !

Martijn
