Live and S/PDIF issue?

Post by Ska_Mike » Wed Jun 21, 2006 2:23 am

I am using a Behringer V-Amp Pro connected to my M-Audio 410 with by S/PDIF. I am getting a signal with M-Audio's control panel, and the proper output.

Unfortunately, after an initial signal recognition a couple of weeks ago, Live is not picking up the signal.(the track is armed and everything, but there is no signal) I've searched through the manual, but cannot find anything relevent towards this problem. I think I may have inadvertantly changed something, but I do not know what.

Any ideas/solutions?

The option itself is unclickable, but clicking on Hardware Setup brings up my M-Audio control panel. It is set to sync to External Coaxial.

This problem is confusing because it *should* work. Very frustrating.

You need to change the settings in the audio interface s/w before you open ableton. You cant make any changes once live is running.
P4 3ghz XP, Live 5.03, Reason 3, Absynth 3, 410 F/W Card, Roland Juno D, Alesis M1 Actives. DJM800 Mixer, Technics SLDZ1200, Denon S5000.

check the outputs in live, sometimes the spdif is showing up as not 3/4 but 5/6 or similar...

The audio interface is all set up (i think). I set it up before booting up Live, and set the sync to external Coaxial.

Is there a way I can reroute th eoutputs of my 410 to be picked up by ableton. For example, I have the SPDIF outputting on 1/2. Can I set up Live to have an input from that output?

I'm not sure you can route spdif out to 1/2...Live will "see it" as 3/4 in the preferences>output config. It sees it as 9/10 in input config.
Did you say you were sending the output via spidf to your mixer? You might want to try setting fw410 to internal coaxial. I record INTO Live from my mixer using spidf channel while 410 is set to EXTERNAL coaxial.
