vst issues

Post by takaminerbb13 » Wed Jun 21, 2006 5:43 am

Hi,
I've got a problem with vsts in Ableton Live.

I'm running Ableton Live 5.2 on a Mac. Before today, I used it on a Mac OS X 10.3 (iBook G4) and it worked great. When I started it up, it immediately found every plugin on my computer.

However, I bought a new computer and received it today. It's a Mac OS X 10.4 (macbook). It transferred everything itself from my old computer, including all system files and libraries. I opened up Ableton and was prompted to enter my serial number and then I successfully unlocked online. Everything had transferred successfully. I even had the same recent files in the "open recent" menu. But, when I went to my plugin folder, only one of my vst plugins was there, though it had found all of my audio units. I tried re-scanning and changing the custom folder, but nothing worked.

I checked my libraries and all of the plugins are still where they used to be, but something is clearly wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Ben

Basically, Live 5.2 is a universal binary that is required for it to run natively on intelmacs (ie, not using rosetta). If your plugins are not also universal binary, then they will not be able to be used in Live 5.2 on an intelmac.

I believe there is a way to boot LIVE using rosetta, but you will have an immense performance drop and probably won't like it.
