getting headhones to work with sound card

hi i have a creative SB audigy 2 ZS and im haveing problems with the crossfaider when i go to mix a track, i hear both tracks and not just the one im wanting to mix in, anyone have any idea how to resolve this problem, many thanks for ur help Alan
