i'd wait a week, new intel chips just came out at 2.33 and should be landing into new MBP's, if they haven't already.

If it's just a music machine and you don't need desktop quality graphics - Macbook.

True, but, I like the screen better on the MacBook Pro. I mean, you don't need a nicer display, but if you have a better display with a better graphics card it sure doesn't hurt.

You don't need a really comfortable studio chair either.

How about this???

Buy a macbook - which I admit gets a little small for reading at the native resolution, but it certainly usable on the road - and buy an external monitor for use at home - much cheaper and you can have 2 screens worth of fun....

(by the way Live is fine to use on the Macbook in terms of size - but reason is definately getting into magnifying territory)
Can you hear it?

I actually have the black MacBook - 2 Ghz - 1.25 RAM
I dig it .... I have barely tapped into the possibilities, and am already very excited.
I had a MacBook Pro (15") before I got the 13", but decided to go with the MB because of the cost. I can tell you (hoestly) that the only regret that I have is the keyboard difference ..... since there is a light under he MBP keyboard, it makes things much easier to type @ night -
Please keep in mind that I have the black MC .... the white MB keyboard may be a little easier to see in a darker envirnment - since the keys (I think) have black letters.
Just my $.02
Good luck to you!
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop?

Just a note...

You must upgrade your MacBook with a matching pair of RAM sticks.
All Macs running the integrated Intel Graphic Chip must be upgraded in identical size pairs for optimal performance. This includes MacBooks and Mac Minis. The MacBook Pro is OK due to the dedicated graphics RAM.

Good tips.... If I had the choice, I'd go for a Macbook plus Cinema Display.

well it has a mini-dvi port (i think it's called), but the apple site states you need a "new" powerbook g4 or a macbook pro.

Macbook has a mini-DVI out which supports resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. So it´s good enough for the 23 inch apple cinema.
