Noise question (not a bug).

Post by thebookclub » Thu Jun 29, 2006 8:18 am

I tend to notice that if I start a song off with a couple of midi tracks and, say, a guitar track, everything sounds fine. The more and more tracks I add I start getting this clicky, static sounding noise every so often. It isn't clipping because my levels are set at adequate levels, but I notice it making the noise more if I've got more programs open or I'm switching between windows or something.

Is this obviously an issue with my PC or something else? I'd assume the noise would go away once the file is rendered into a .wav, but it doesn't.

Any help or suggestions would be nice. Thank you.

What soundcard/audio interface do you use?

Open Live's audio preferences and increase the buffer size for your audio driver. If you use an audio interface with a seperate control panel (e.g. M-Audio), you might be able to set the buffe size in that control panel.

I'm using a Tascam US-122 interface. I checked the latency on its control panel and I did have it set pretty low. Hopefully this will fix it. Thanks.

I'm going through the same issues, if I get it sorted out, I'll post the solution here for you.
