WTF
the longest option is 7 days, you have got to be kidding me.
What are you doing , cutting and pasting samples off other records or loop CDs? That's not the same process as writing a song and mixing it
That's like the diference between painting a picture and doing a jigsaw.
to write, record, tinker, mix, remix, mix again, tinker again, leave, tinker again, mix again, finish.
that takes me about 1 month to 6 months depending on the track.
I do have a fulltime job though , otherwise I would be quicker.

i once made a track in 1 hour
mostly everything electronic i make go's unfinished. i could just loop stuff longer than 16 bars or do the build up thing but, i would not consider it a finshed track.
i really dont get much excitement from making music with only synths ..
thats probably why most stuff go's unfinished.

I painted the monalisa in less than an hourplain wrote:usually i pick out a record that i love and loop that for about 200 bars and then i'll add some of my own custom synth lines.....
I got a picture of it off the net, changed the colours in photoshop, pasted a picture of a hat on her head, put a lens flare on it and printed it out.
I have no idea why people say painting pictures is hard, It only took me an hour and it looks better than the one Leonardo did, more modern too!

your gullible
that's exactly why i think using samples is kinda lame.. you'll have much more excitement from your track (IMHO) if you make all the parts yourself and use samples as little as possible (especially for the base of your track).. yeah, sure you can make something in an hour... big whoop.. a monkey can knock on wood, but is it something that moves you?i once made a track in 1 hour

the only samples i ever use are one shot drum hits or sample sets like violens.stinky wrote:that's exactly why i think using samples is kinda lame.. you'll have much more excitement from your track (IMHO) if you make all the parts yourself and use samples as little as possible (especially for the base of your track).. yeah, sure you can make something in an hour... big whoop.. a monkey can knock on wood, but is it something that moves you?i once made a track in 1 hour

the track i made in a hour was something that i actually liked.
second that- unless i get one of those random tracks that the bulk of the writing gets done in the first week.Angstrom wrote:WTF

about 7-8 hrs
I have to do it all at once. I find music that has been made over a long period a little bit dull and arsey. give me some random woops and cheesy flips anyday, over intrically and analy produced micro beats. like that blooming autechre album.............if you want to write an album like than in 2 days then use operator and the beatrepeat with a high slice setting and then stick some db glitch over it, voila. whats the point of spending loads of time on something that sounds like a computer farting backwards into its own mouth....
