Hey guys, new to Ableton, hope it can pull off what I am trying to do.
I have a sample that I want to midi trigger to fade in and start playing/looping. Then when I hit the trigger again to fade out and stop playing.
I've got the fade in and looping part down by just having a fade in on the sample itself and then setting the loop to the middle part of the sample.
Is there any way to fade it out when I hit the trigger again, or is there a better way to go about doing this?
midi trigger samples fade-in/fade-out
Thank you for the suggestion. I have to map out about 5 samples to seperate keys on my midi keyboard. While your suggestion seems to work, it complicates things quite a bit having 2 keys per sample. Not to mention taking up valuable real estate on the keyboard.
Does anyone know of a way to do this with one key? I guess this would be somewhat similar to a sampler.. which the only one that I have found that can do the same thing is VSampler for the PC. (I'm on a Mac)

You can try...
Using a volume envelope at the beginning (fade in) of the clip and what hambone¹ helpfully points out, at the end of the clip (fade out)... Then loop the middle part of the clip (which would be the part where the volume is constant) until you want it 2 fade out, then unleash the power of midi control to exit loop towards the end of the clip (fade out). I hope that makes sense and I hope I helped you out...
By the way if you only want to use one key, then I believe you should use toggle as your trigger style... That way your one key has TWO functions. Start & Stop.
