White noise extreme

Hello
I just bougth a toneport sound card from Line 6 to record and stuff with. The sounds are great and everyting, but... My stationary pc is acting funny with it, once I´ve had it running it sends out this very very noisie uncomfortable white noise that just burns my ears, totally randomly I might add. I´ve tried the soundcard with my laptop and it doesnt do this. Unfortunatly my laptop doesnt pack the same muscle as my stationary so It cant really replace the other.

Has anyone had this problem and hopefully found a solution?

Make your audio buffer larger, as well as the plug-in buffer and raise the CPU limit. These are all in the Options-> Preferences menus.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to try a different USB cable. The ones that ship with products are usually cheap and fairly unreliable. I use GeekSquad USB cables myself- silver alloy wiring with gold plated connectors. Depending on your system and peripherals, it CAN make a difference.

Cool, glad it worked. The tradeoff between buffer size and performance is that with larger buffers things run smoother, BUT there's more of a delay between audio entering the buffer and leaving it, so playing instruments (guitar, synth, midi controller to a vst) can get sluggish and even unplayable. I often change my buffers around depending on what I'm doing, recording guitar, or just playing loops.

More RAM helps solve this problem, 512Mb is bare minumum, 1Gb is good, 2Gb is even better.

Can't be the USB cable, most of the time when a device is turned off while Live is running you have to restart Live with the device connected and powered up. The fault from a bad USB cable would be a device working for a little while, then dying causing the user to have to restart Live.

hey all.
i've been having the same issue with my macbook pro and digi 002. white noise galore. i tried the suggestions by DKF but this didn't solve it. all my drivers are pretty much up to date. things work fine with pro tools le 7.1.1 but as it is that's pretty much useless to me. i'm hoping to get this bastard working with live.
