Midi Clock Sync Problem [again]

Post by adamg » Fri Jul 14, 2006 3:10 am

Has anyone had success either syncing the Elektron Machinedrum and Jomox xbase09 to Live 5.2 via MIDI clock as either master or slave? If so, what exactly did you do? I have been through the manuals and webpages but nada. When I slave the beatboxes to Live, they play back double time. Live just won't slave to either. Anyone?

Mac OS X 4.7, G5 DP 2.0 ghz PPC
Unitor8 interface
Motu 828 mk II firewire

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

i don't have a jomox or elecktron, but i've encountered weirdness syncing live to my mpc2000.

For some reason, it doesn't work unless i turn MMC on on the mpc.
MMC shouldn't really have anything to do with tempo so maybe it's something wrong with my mpc. I don't know. Worth a shot though.

strange thing: If i don't enable mmc, live plays back with whatever the liveset tempo is, not the mpc's tempo, even though the ext box is activated and the number of the temo greyed out. odd.

this maybe obvious - but i overlooked it until somebody pointed it out that the midi clock delay compensation is specific to each midi port in / out.

so when adjusting the delay comp make sure you click (select / highlight) the port, then set the delay value.

also i had problems with my nord micro sending midi clock - live wasnt starting the transport. i could see the clock coming in but it never triggered play...(?)

works fine the other way round tho'...
