genelec 8020a vs 8030a

Post by _vrsn » Tue Jul 18, 2006 7:33 pm

i don't have a store nearby to try these two out...for a small condo-based studio (ei: relatively low playback volume) is the 8030a overkill, or worth it even in my situation?

8030a is worth it in my opinion.

i think the translation of 8030A's turned up 1/3rd volume doesnt sound as pushed or strained as the 8020a's at the same volume turned up 1/2 volume)

also, even though the bass response is nearly the similar, it seems like the 8030a's curve for low frequencies is more natural, and less boxy sounding than the 8020a's.

i own the 8030a's with a KRK RP10s sub.
also use a pair of Mackie HR-824, and Tannoy PBM6.5's.
the 8030a's are my favorite to mix on, hands down.

8030s the best money you ever spend.

hands down.

(unless you have a large room and the money for 8040s or 8050s)
