Live 6 Upgrade

Post by BigAl » Wed Jul 19, 2006 10:58 pm

I currently own the Live 5 version. Is the upgrade to Live 6 $99 Eur/$119 USD?

I just want to be clear about it and I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I couldn't find it from the search button.

Thanks,
--Al

wow... it's suprising how often this comes up considering it's not hidden on the site or anything. I'm sure if you just go to ableton.com you can find all that in about 45 seconds.

well it can be a little confusing, there's lots of different upgrades, lots of different prices for the upgrades. and then you have exceptions for the folks who bought Live5 after summer NAMM... different prices for downloaded and boxed versions, etc. etc.

all included, there are something like 9 different prices you can pay for Live 6 (including those few folks getting it for free), and it all depends on the version you are updating FROM, when you bought that version, if you want a box or not, yadda yadda.

lots of info, so i can understand some folks who want to be 100% positive on the price THEY pay to upgrade. even $119 is nothing to scoff at when its your own coin. :)

I don't know... I see your point but it only took me a minute to figure out what I'd have to pay for the upgrade personally so I just find it interesting how many times people have asked on here

I'm not trying to bash anyone

Yeah,
When we receive something for free or when it comes with a package deal of anoher product, we would have to pay full price for upgrades. Nomally, this is the case. Therefore, I will just wait and see what happens.

You are right Adam!
There is nothing on their site that say anything about Live that came with Protools either. I learn from package deals that we almost always pay full price for upgrades. Updates may be free, but not upgrades from package deals. I'll just wait and see.

Thanks anyways,
Al

I'm just waiting on a "hopefully" confirmed bundled upgrade of a Boxed Live 6 + Operator + Sampler from Live 5 (hope they do one).
As I'll just stick to Reaktor / Reason / Live /DimPro if they do that.
That way I can start saving my pennies and get the family to chuck cash my way and get the whole lot for my birthday early November.
Looking good so far these L6 features IMHO.
EQ8 is gonna be very nice as are the additions to Saturator + Tube.
The new improved device racks and midi options look tasty.
Nice to see some enhancements to Operator that make it more appealing to me also.
Not too mention Sampler looks like alot of sound design mojo in a self contained package ie:morphing filters , loop point modulators , fm and am modulation of samples and general central integration to the app as a whole and it will complement Impulse and Simpler well IMHO.
Interesting days ahead indeed.
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....
