Perpendicular HD's

Post by brainray » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:53 pm

I wonder if anyone has made some expiriences with one of those new drives that use perpendicular recording? There is the Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160GB SATA and the Hitachi Travelstar 5K160 - there is also the Toshibas MK2035GSS, but it has only 4200 rpm, so I don't think it's very interesting for work with Live.

So which one is better, the Hitachi or the Seagate?

i don't know the particular new models, but i do have the best experiences with seagate and maxtors, apart from glyph. (seagate and glyphs being the quitest drives, after my experience)

so i personally would go for seagate.

I have not been able to find out much about these as far as music work. I was going to put the 160 gb seagate in my macbook, but didn't have enough cash anyways. I'd like to know how it works if you go for it.

Looks like nobody uses such a drive. I'll get mine as soon as I have a new MacBook that woks for more than 7 days (the last one was DOA). I'll post a comment about the drive here then.
