SLIDER CONTROLLER SAC-2.2

Post by HEXMODE » Tue Aug 19, 2003 10:00 pm

Does anyone have this controller or does anyone know about someone that does. Does it work well with ableton and reason ???
.
Im considering buying it. The SAC-2.2 is built waaaay! better than the plastic toy uc-33
and does so much more. They are selling it for $700.00 usd at this store near my home it retails for $1699.99!!
let me know what you think ......... www.radikaltechnologies.com

..
let me know thanks........

even though that is very cool, I think it's a bit of an overkill for use with Live. Will the motorized faders work with it?

Did you check the links page here under the tab, controllers? theres some cool stuff there and a lot cheaper choices:)

good luck

This thing kicks ass!

I got one and it's maybe one of the best controllers for live...

but I don't dare to carry it to live gigs anymore.

It's so damn expensive and the motors don't work when it's too hot or much too cold.

There's one cool feature:
You can Push the endless dials ,this should be used to get the preset value for the controller (e.g. pan:center)
But with live it works as an FX-bypass.
That means :tweak the dial to turn the fx send on
push the dial and the fx send returns to it's zero position
push the dial once more and you got your fx back.

Since ableton live not only receives midi but also transmits control changes the motorfaders and everything work as in cubase or logic.
I think they even behave better in live...
don't know why.

It's really expensive :( ....but worth the money :D

certainly looks highly professional, but for 700 bucks you could get 3 different midi controllers all specified to cover all your Live and Reason needs. the Uc-33 may look like a toy, but it's got the most direct interface, other toy like controllers are the Edirol PCR-33 or M-audio keyboard, and then you could also get a Midi Foot controll. Each of these controllers will run you about $150 bucks...so for under $500 you've got enough control for a live rig that you don't have to feel to bad about if it were damaged on the road. That raditec looks like a great studio piece though, just not good for gigging.

I'm amazed u got this working - how?

I'm trying via both SAC Control over USB and via MIDI, with the SAC in SLAVE or ACTIVE modes, but am not having very much luck at it

I agree, I dont have the SAC-2.2 mind you. But what a pity that Ableton have endorsed that pile of Donkey Turd (UC 33) right there and in full view every time we come to the website.

I see that Ableton are advertsisng for a marketing person. They definitely need it. Ableton are in serious danger of looking all gimmicky and flashy with no real substance or direction to the Pro Music industry and simply appealing to bedroom Hoobyists.

This is exactly where Steinberg are and they cannot get themsleves out of that hornets nest.

Ableton People. You are a young company I know, but you do need to take proper advice and look to the long term prospects of this wonderful software you have created.. You have a very Pro Product, and its time you started to beleive this yoursleves and market it as such.

Ditch that monstrosity of a controller. its a gimmick, and a toy. no self respecting musican or engineer would be seen dead sitting behind that awful cheapo device. continue on that path and your market will be hobbyists forever. And they dont spend a lot of money period.....

If you're gonna be a hater then you gotta become a member so we know who you are. That's just wimpy to shit on decent products and not even reference who the hell you are. I mean, I can see if you're running a $100 an hour studio you might want to use the UC33 because you're business relies on much more expensive equipment. But there's nothing wrong with this product. It's perfect for the Live MUSICIAN, not necassarily a studio...and live in the studio is more of a sketching tool. As a musician, i can't afford the $ or space to use bloated products like the SAC-2.2. And as for marketing, i think live knows there market very well. I'd bet it's a majority of individual musicians, not studios. Live is a quality instrument meant for performance, not for the safe soltitude of the the studio (although, like a hot guitar, it has it's uses in studio work too).
The best, best songs are utterly forgettable.
