iPod as audio interface?

Has anyone tried using an iPod as an audio interface(Second headphone out) on a Mac?

Anyone know what software would be needed?

I don't think the pipes are there, to take audio from the Mac to the iPod... but I don't know for sure.

I've never heard about it, anyways, but it's a great idea, actually.

I really don't get your idea... I use my ipod as ...an ipod :D , and as an external firewire hard drive.

I really don't get your idea... I use my ipod as ...an ipod :D , and as an external firewire hard drive.
I think he's saying it could be possible to use the DAC in the ipod as a headphone out (as it's digitally linked via USB2/firewire) while you use the main computer stereo out as the main outs.

seems like it should be more than possible.

lol, no offense, but just cause you can connect devices together with a cable and the ipod has a plug that also fits your headpones doesnt mean its even close to possible.

Thats like saying, hey, if i plug my laptop and my midi controller into the same power outlet, do you think I can send midi CC's to it? I think its more than possible. i mean, come on. they are connected.
