Live with Protools 6.1

Post by dopamine » Sat Aug 23, 2003 1:30 am

I posted on the Digi forum, but got no responses.

I'm running the Ableton's Live demo via Rewire it PT LE 6.1 and I keep getting error messages telling me to raise the HW buffer. In PT I have no plug ins, only 4 audio tracks and a stereo aux for Live . The error comes up when I try to us more than 1 effct in Live. My system is a single 1.25 G4, 768 mb ram, 10.2.6. It's strange because I use the Live demo on my 1st gen ibook and can stack fx galore--even with other apps running. It seems my 1.25 should be well capable of running Live with PT LE.

Any help is appreciated!

i have an identical setup as you cept that i have 512 mgs of ram. I also get that buffer problem occasionally. I believe its prob related to a bug in pro tools 6.1

rewire to PT le

I've had same problem, can be overcome if you max out your RAM...and it is a bug in PT rewire implementation...a similar problem can happen with reason when sending a lot of rewire channels into PT.

Maxed out my RAM to (1.5GB), and problem disappeared...I have an 867Mhz
quivksilver Mac and can get 20 trks audio, live and reason all running together with little problem with a digioo1, but only managed either Reason or Live with mbox...am testing 002 in next few weeks . I will report back

thanks for a reply. I figured that it was prob a bug with PT rewire implementation. Hopefully Ableton and pro tools will try to fix or at least improve this bug

Ram, huh? What a PITA! Guess I'll have to spend another $100 for a 512 stick, when will it end?

Digi001 Interface won't change from 512 Buffer and ...

Post by Meantown » Thu Sep 18, 2003 8:53 pm

I have an G4 400 AGP with 384 Ram / OS 10.2.6 / ProTools 6.1.1 (the newest upgrade that came out couple of nights ago) / Live 2.1.2 (upgrade just came out also). I know it's low on Ram. I have a Gig more coming anyday and should be getting the OWC 1.4 processor upgrade real soon.

The problem is I'm not getting the Preference>Audio>Buffer Size to budge at all from being set on 512. If I reset outside of Live it automatically resets to 512 upon opening Live. Is this because of my processor/ram or is this a bug?

Secondly the new CoreAudio driver that came with the new ProTools upgrade allows the Digi 001 built in Midi In/Out to now be used.

Their working in ProTools 6.1.1 now.

They show up as interface choice in the Live/Preference/Midi but they don't register any signal input into Live. I'm trying to setup a couple of PC1600's I have for control of LIVE.

ProTools & Live

Also I was wondering if maybe we shouldn't consolidate all the Live/ProTools problems to one post. Since their is not to many of us and we wouldn't have to jump around so much. I see we are all having sorta of the same problems? :?:
