Live 5.2, OSX: Rendered files are AIFC

Post by dr.wackler » Thu Aug 03, 2006 11:26 pm

I just realized, that the files I render from Live are shown in the Finder as AIFC files rather tham AIFF files. As far as I know, AIFC is the abbreviation for a compressed AIFF format. Since there is no such setting in Live's render dialog, I wonder what's up.
Could it be some mysterious Quicktime settings that I don't know of or some other system preferences?

Any idea?

Thanks for any hints.

In reply to myself..

I just found the solution. Being fed up with iTunes opening when I double-click a soundfile, I had re-assigned AIFF files to open with Quicktime Player. This caused the filetype to be shown as AIFC in the finder (while in real they were still AIFF files).
Re-assigning them to open in Sample Manager by default solved the issue. They are now correctly recognized as AIFF files in the Finder.

I'm running into this issue in 2021. I trust Ableton is correctly rendering AIFF files, but my macOS is showing them as AIFF-C for some reason. Weirdness.
