i quit my job and i feel so much better now

Post by njh » Thu Aug 10, 2006 4:21 pm

it was just a really crap dead end grocery stocking job that i have hated every since i started it. since i have quit i have made 3 songs, been able to enjoy the summer a little (finally!!) and have noticed that there are many more jobs to be had... i feel freaking great!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
the whole time i was working there i was very depressed, angry at the world, and hated my co workers.. the co workers (and it being 3rd shift) were the main reasons for me quiting..
i dont think i will miss the idiot conversations (conversations as in them talking to me and me not trying to hear them) about how drunk and high they got the night before. or how many "bitches" they have been with..

AGGGHHH!!! Yer killing me!! I want to quit my job so bad....it's such a posh job in some ways....I get to sit at home working on a computer....but it is high stress, on call 24/7, massive braindrain, I forget what the sun looks like, and IT'S NOT AUDIO!!!!

I think I'm unconsciously starting to sabotage myself into getting in trouble or something....I'm getting too old to be wasting my time NOT doing what I want, even though I will make much less money doing that probably. But what good is money if you're miserable making it?

140 + people getting laid off here in Seattle in the next 4 to 9 months

The state will pay for worker retraining i.e. pay for a technical degree in Programming, web development etc, you collect unemployment insurance and I get a pretty fat severance pay

Also the music thing is picking up so hopefully come January I'll be

studying Calculus, learning the ins and outs of the IT side of computers and writing techno house jams all day all on the states dime :)

I can even start going out and promoting myself again - maybe I'll make a demo cd (Of all my own beats :))

A jobs a job and I need one but after this little stint (5 year stint) of sitting in a cubicle it's never going ot happen again - I'm getting my degree and getting the fuck out of the united states

the music thing is picking up as well - Roman just called me and said some label out of SD is interested in another one of our songs - plus this guy asked for 4 more for their next release - plus I'm actually starting to like some of my beats - the remix better get me some more work down the road - I just have to stay focused, lay off the pot and not be so hard on myself

anywayz - yes being UNEMPLOYED will and does have it's benefits sweeeeetttt

later

i had a completely butt-ass boss once...making great money...but he verbally and mentally abused ALL of his workers including those he depended on most. I decided that it wasn't worth it...although most people would have taken it for years (and still do the poor saps)...I quit...and never looked back. Best thing I could have ever done...I'm happy and making a good living doing something I ENJOY now with a boss who isn't a f*ckhead.

Life is too short...take a chance...and good for you for quitting a known crappy situation!

Good for you! Life's too short to live in misery.

I was made redundant a little over a year ago. I hated the gray 9-5 M-F lemming office mentality, and looked at is as an opportunity rather than a loss. (I didn't burn any bridges, though... I still get the occasional freelance job from them!)

It's been a tough year with minimum income, but now I'm doing something I really love (DJing with Live!), making twice as much cash, and working two days a week.

Do something you love, you're good at, marketable, and that doesn't dominate your life, and you'll live happily ever after! :D

Wouldn't it be great if we could all just quit our day jobs and do what we love to do (make music with Live) and get paid enough for it so we didn't have to have our day jobs? This is probably everybody on this forums dream...I know its mine :) probably will never happen, but hey, I'll always shot for it!

Congrats...it sucks when you have to work and hate your job, life is just too short not to enjoy what you're doing to earn a living, but that's how it goes for probably 85% of the working world. I really envy those who have jobs that are like a hobby to them and they get paid for it at the same time.

this is a great thread, very positive and in a way it made my day, i'm quitting my job saturday, although I know its' the right thing to do sometimes i have reservations about it, but its' just too stressful, I think of it as an environment devoid of respect and I feel it's unhealthy to be there any further.

Errr, can't use Live 5 without electricity, can't have electricity without paying for it, can't pay for it unless you have money, can't have money unless you have a job...?

Or am I missing something?
