Ways of using Ableton 5.0 with Serato Scratch Live 1.5?

Post by ivanguy » Tue Aug 15, 2006 2:33 pm

I just got my Serato ... been an Ableton user for over a year now (loves it!) ... so now I'm wondering ...

Does anyone out there use the two together? I also just got the latest MacBook Pro (using the Intel processor and the 2.15 Ghz whatever processor) ... so the computer is quick ...

I'm wondering if anyone's been able to make samples on the fly using Ableton then spinning it over onto Serato ...

Or are there other ways of using the two programs together?

I am pretty sure it is possible with some tweaking. As far as I know most of the minus crew plays this way, magda, troy pierce, richie hawtin, etc. - using combinations of SSL and Ableton. I know Troy Pierce's resident Advisor 01 mix was made using this combination.

I am not sure how they are set up though.

I am not sure if it is an option for you or not but you might consider looking at Torq the new software by M-Audio and then switching to that instead of Serato. While Serato is a great program unless you have a Xone 3D you aren't going to really have the ability to use the two programs together as easy as you would with Torq instead.
