a BIG bars & beats display

Anyone have an idea of how to get a very large bar & beat display? I was thinking a dedicated lcd gadget (like they have to dispay SMPTE timecode) but i guess some software solution could work too. Would be helpful for live-looping, I find.

I'm sure you don't need no fancy hardware, just some friendly pal out there that knows a bit of programming and that could make a VST (maybe a max patch?) for that. I know programming, but have never done anything like writing a VST plugin.

It shouldn't be that complex...

That plug posted is windows only so it doesn't help me.

Had an idea:

Create a Quicktime movie with just the beat numbers 1-4 (or whatever time sig) on it and drop it into live 6. Extend ad infinitum, or loop it in arrange.

not the best but also free.

Honestly, I'd rather have a dedicated piece of hardware for this as i like to look at the computer as little as possible in live looping situations.

i know what buzzcock means...sometimes is hard to see the bar clock on live or if you bar lenght is quite long it can also be hard to determin the end if your triggering on 16th or 32's..it would be good to have a big bar countdown...i like the idea

But much of what I'm doing gets rather complex and layered, sometimes with intentionally odd lenghted/out of sync loops, and it's nice to have a visual reference of where "home" is.

You know, if you wanted to make it cool and give it some good visual design, i might be interested in contributing. Like a giant version of the rotating pie graph already in Live-- but with preferences for beat numbers, elapsed time, trippy changing colors and whatnot.

Something fun to zone out to...

Also, I'm not sure if a VST is the way to go since it interferes with the Live set buy taking up a track. Maybe just a stand alone that accepts MIDI sync and time signature information.

I know, I know, I want the world...

I wonder if there's an OS X rtas plugin that would display timecode for ProToolsLE users?
