CANT RECORD AUDIO DUE TO WHITE NOISE!!!!!

i just updated my mac book pro to run live 5.2 and i cant record any audio what so ever because when i arm an audio track a constant flow of white noise is going through my signal. I cant do anything to fix it. I reinstalled my pro tools along with the drivers for the core audio manager. This really sucks. All midi works. I do not have any problems with reason. any help would be much appreciated.
