Using live.... er live

Post by nailbomb » Mon Sep 11, 2006 11:28 am

Was wondering what kind of audio interfaces people are using?
I use a Edirol PCR 1 for my laptop setup at present however it is only stereo in/ out therefore I can't monitor cue selections as live doesn't support multiple drivers. Originally I assumed that I could use the PCR 1 to output the master and use the onboard soundcard of my laptop to monitor. Obviously I was wrong!!!!
I have a live PA gig coming up and have got to buy an audio interface to enable me to monitor correctly. My current setup I have uses the PCR 1 as both midi controller and audio output and I have a sepperate midi interface for my outboard gear. I also need a mixer that is portable as I am NOT taking my studio mixer out. Can anyone reccomend to me an audio interface or even usb mixer which can cope with handling lives tracks and outboard hardware? Midi control can be left to the PCR 1 but I could do with a total solution for the rest - a mixer and audio/ midi interface. I am not up on the latest stuff as I mainly use outboard gear and free soft synths for my productions. The choice of interfaces is bewildering to me as I haven't kept track of current technology for about a year 8O
If anyone could help or even just mention what they use so I can look bits of kit up I would be most grateful.
many thanks

Try using the www.asio4all.com drivers. They support mutiple soundcards and should allow you to do cueing on your internal card.
