Are You Using xp sp1 or sp2
I've been using sp1 for quite a long time, is there any reason to go with sp2 or should I just stick with what i'm doing?
for the love of Live
I'm probably the last one...
...on Windows 2000! I think the Abes have kept supporting it just for me.
I know that some day I will see something that I have to have, and will have to go to XP or whatever. That's the only reason I went to MacOS 9; Reason 2 would only run on it.
But at the moment I am not limited by my tools; only my own abilities and time. I use Live 5.2, Sound Forge 8, Sonar 4, Reason 2.5, Dimension Pro, Izotope Ozone, a bunch of other miscelllaneous VSTs on a 2 GHz P4 and so far I don't have any ideas that are bigger than that. Reason 3 and Sonar 5 did not appeal to me that much.
My only regret is that Max/MSP later than 4.3 won't run on my system. But I can live with that.
r.

I have installed every single update that Microsoft has released. My Acer laptop or my Shuttle desktop have never ever crashed.
I use my laptop to play gigs pretty much weekly (With Traktor mostly), the only bad thing that has ever happened was drunkeness and pulling out the firewire soundcard cable.
All it caused was a brief, and unconfortable moment of silence.

PS. I think iTunes crashed a few times when I first got my iPod (now I'm using the vastly superior Winamp plugin) and I've had some issues with IE 7.....but that's still in beta.

Re: Are You Using xp sp1 or sp2
I had to format my workstation and I had the same doubt. I searched a lot of info about SP and audio performances and I understood the following::mic-minimal:: wrote:I've been using sp1 for quite a long time, is there any reason to go with sp2 or should I just stick with what i'm doing?
1) SP2 increased the Kernel-ASIO communication
2) If you use your machine for Internet, you NEED SP2
I think that the best way to proceed is to use NLITE to remove stupid and unused features from your XP SP2. My workstation is not connected to a network so I will remove ALL network features. I will avoid also to download the bugfixes (90% are for security) and my machine works faster than my previous XP SP1.
Scube
Waiting for Qbits..
im still on XP1... but I dont use the machine for the net... works perfectly for me.. ive not really bought much software in the last 2 years so the machine is pretty much like how i got it from Carrillon..
unless there is some software out there that you wanna use that needs SP2 (is this happening at all??) id just stick with it if it works...
