Live 5.0 or Firewire 410 is NOT reading MIDI keyboard

Long story short - I dont know if it's the M-AUDIO or Live 5 but I am not getting any sound or a signal in the midi-track indicator when I press the keys of my keyboard. It worked once or twice about a month ago, but it hasn't worked since.

My set up:
Windows XP Inspiron 6000 laptop - Ableton Live 5.0, M-Audio Firewire 410 and a Yamaha weighted keyboard w/ MIDI outs and ins.

Steps to correct it:
I've checked the cable connections; I've switched to another keyboard, I've checked Live/Preferences under sample rate and midi/sync options; contacted firewire tech support and they walked me through freeing up computer resources. NOTHING is working!
