single drum effects

Post by steppahcyde22 » Tue Sep 26, 2006 6:39 am

Hi...i'm your random noob with a question thats probaly really easy to answer so please hook a brother up!

The question is:How do i go about assigning a effect to a single drum in impulse? i:e adding delay to just the snare or kick, not both. Trying to experiment with Dub-like patterns but i"m quite stumped!! Please help me advance in learning this really great program.

Thanx

To put delay on the kick, reverb on the snare and a different delay on the hi hats (for example) you'd have to use seperate impulses in seperate tracks. With Live, every clip in a track share all the same effects and all the audio in each track takes the same route.

actually, you can use one impulse. to apply an effect to just the snare, you create a new audio track, and set the input to the track with the impulse>snare. pop on your effects on that audio track, and set it to monitor.

LIVE 5 Manual Pg. 164-165.

i'll spare you the RTFM :)

No wonder that people keep asking for stuff like sidechain compression and routing midi to an audio track.... It's all there. In plain sight...
Maybe thats the problem

hindsight's 20/20, I never re-routed audio from Impulse, I always liked to tweak on the effects within Impulse on the seperate parts. There's just so much to learn and at the same time there's so much you can do with what you already know. between spending my time making/learning music, applying tricks I already know and learning the nuances of vsts stuff like this gets past me. the day I stop learning here is the day I'll finally log out, until then, it all blows my mind.
