Arrange to Session Help

Post by LRG » Thu Sep 28, 2006 5:38 am

I have a question I am trying to chop up this break so I drag it into the arrange screen, then i inserted a new audio track from there I highlighted and copied the Kick and pasted it in track 2 to have just the kick on track 2. I did that with all the other drums unil I had the loop on track 1 and all the chopped instruments on track 2. After that I Highlight them all and drag them into a track in the session view and it separates them all witch is the shit. My problem is that it plays the whole loop I chopped it from but I only draged the chop. I can see the lengh of the clip and I can fix it so it only plays the Kick but I still can see in the clip view that the break is still all there. I just have it set in length to only play the Kick part. Is there a way to delete everything except the part I dragged? Why does this happen?

a "clip" (the ableton technical term) is independent of it's sample, really

i am surprised that dragging a slice into session view changed the clip's start position.

but anyway you could fix this by consolidating (ctrl+j) the slices, which would cut off all the extra

be careful! it will render the output of the warp engine so turn off warping on a clip before you consolidate it
