Kontrol49 as control surface

I cant get my Kontrol49 to work in the control surface mode.

Is there a particular scene that needs to be loaded into the Kontrol49 to match the Live 6 setup or does it work more like Reason where it takes over the keyboard?

I've tried using the supplied 'Live' scene but that doesnt make any difference.

anyone got theirs to work?

Can't get microKontrol working as control surface, either.
Which port and scene should I use?
Please Abes give us a hint...

thanks a lot, got it working now.
apparently you have to use the 1st factory preset of a controller. makes sense...

OK, I have the Kontrol49 working, but the parameter names don't show up in the LCD.

Are they supposed to?

I was expecting it to work like Reason does
