Record LIVE Midi Softsynth Performance to LIVE Audio Channel

I am using the computer keyboard and Midi overdub feature of live to fire off an external softsynth and simuiltaneouly record the audio produced back into an audio channel. This isn't working too well and I wonder if there is an easy way to set this up? :?:
