Can anyone suggest a good Arpeggiator please

Post by zazamoth » Wed Oct 04, 2006 10:00 am

hi, I was wondering can anyone suggest a good Arpeggiator. I am thinking about getting the Albino 3..as it seems to hold 4 in one work surface ..

i do have the Live Arpeggiator and absynth 3(not to mention reason)
but i find LIVE5 Arpeggiator a little weak and Absynth just takes to bloody long. yeah Absynth sounds great but if you are looking for quick Arpeggiator sounds... it's not great.

Thanks for reading

To be honest with you mate the Live appregiator is about as good as you will find out there. Im not really big on appregiator synth lines but I will tell you the truth and say that the only one I have ever used in a track is theone from live. All the others sounded to robotic for my liking.
Ask anyone around here Im mega critical if something in live isnt up to par. In fact Im really nasty when I want to be so Im not telling you this because im a live zealot Its a good appregiator no doubt about it.

Cheers mercyplease

I do like the one in live, and to tell the truth i am only just learning appregiator thing (Never had to use it till now) ..so anyones help would be really appreciated. It could just be my inexperience dealing with them..as live's appregiator doesnt seem to produce as many complex patterns as others do.

i have heard many good things about the WALDORF MICRO Q's arp. not to mention its an absolutely stunning sounding synth.

Also, logic is noted for its arp....apparently you can make all kinds of customized mega-arps, maybe logic is over kill....but perhaps logic express has these functions too ?

Cubase has an arp (Maybe two?) they are both good, but to be honest I think Lives is great.
You cannot go wrong with it seriously, don't waste your money..just spend some quality time with the Live arp.
I don't think its worth buying logic or cubase for an arp anyway.

Hey b0unce

Someone was saying yesterday i should have a look at cakewalks zt3a..but i didn't think that would work in live !?

thanks kineticUk,

yeah i am actually going to spend some time with live today..see if i can get some decent patterns out of it..i am not to fond of cubase ..but in saying that, it's only one of the lite versions i own..i would have upgraded but steinberg messed me around so much i gave up.

Why not use more than one Live Arpeg. on a track?

I've got some great complexities out of 2 arps playing off each other.

Also try combining that with Chord and Scale.

word bounce, I was going to write the same.
The nice thing of the microQ is that you can write the 16 steps patterns w/note lengt, accent and slide, you can have up to 12 arpeggios stored.
The factory are a bit too trance oriented for my liking but you can do what you want with it.
not to mention its an absolutely stunning synth, with really nice filters and wicked modulation matrix, good sounding effects STOP I could go on and on

they're going pretty cheap at the moment (2nd hand) or you can buy a new one, waldorf is in businness again.
