Changing Start Point While Clip Is Playing

Post by NeilUK » Thu Oct 05, 2006 10:54 pm

in version 5 if a clip was playing and I wanted to change the start point to 33 (or anything else) i could simply type 33 in the box and hit enter, the clip wouldn't jump or start again until i pressed play again.

however in version 6 when u change the start position and hit enter s new start point at 33 is made but the clip also jumps the amount of bars i specified as my start point. for example :

- if a clip is playing and is at the 9th bar and has a start point of 1,1,1, but i want to change the start point to 33, i type in 33 hit enter, the clip makes 33 the start point but also jumps 33 bars ahead to the 42nd bar!!??

how do i stop it from jumping ahead and work the same way it did in 5?

alternatively i know i can right click the 33rd bar and select "set 1,1,1 here" but i would much prefer to do it the old way.

hope u can help

thanks!

The behaviour is exactly the same in Live 6 as it was in Live 5.2 and even Live 4, 3 and 2.
As far as I remember, only in Live 5.0.1 (or 5.1?), when they introduced the speaker tool for startpont jumping, changing the startpoint marker (no matter if graphically or by typing the number in the startpoint filed) was not recognized as a jump. But that was more a bug than a feature, so it got changed back to the old behaviour that it had in earlier versions.
