[jab] MIDI going loco when assigning clip to keys on midi-ke

Hi,

yesterday I was trying to assign a clip to my midi-controller in the following way:

It was a mp3-clip (complete song), set to quantization-none and legato. I wanted to alter the pitch of the song while other clips where playing. I assigned it to my midi-keyboard by pressing midi-select, hitting C3 and while holding this key hitting C5 and C1.

When I tried to fire the clip it went all crazy, played on the first pitched note, but could not be altered anymore, I couldn't stop the clip any longer and had to delete it. The midi-sync went crazy somehow (my machine was master, the slave got hickups and could not be stopped anymore).

I was able to reproduce this behaviour.

I was using an ibook G4, 1.33 mhz, OSX 10.4.7, a cheapo midikeyboard connected by an edirol midi-usb-thingy, an ozone, and Live 6.01.

Anyone else having problems with assigning clips to the scale on a midikeyboard?

Hi pepezabala,

does this problem still occur after you have turned off
the 'Remote' status of all of your MIDI output ports
(Preferences -> MIDI Sync)?

I will try when I am back in the studio (tomorrow). Here at home I do not have midi controllers.

Hi, the problem disappeared after unchecking the remote outputs. Strange enough I couldn't reproduce it afterwards (by undoing the unchecking), but I did not have the chance to try a lot as I was making music with other people ...
