Future radio show in Iceland - music needed

Post by buzby » Sat Oct 07, 2006 3:01 pm

hi

it is a possibility that I may have a radio show in Reykjavik, Iceland at some time near in the future

the alþjóðahús (hehehe) in Reykjavík is starting a radio broadcasting network which will be hosted by helvítis útlendingur - in others words, us damn foreigners aimed at other damned foreigners (and Icelanders) in Iceland.

i go for a course in radio broadcasting over the next weeks and if it goes ok i may be invited to have a show

i want to play as much different ypes of music as possible but will probably shy away from rock, r'n'b etc

i lisen to a lot of traditional style music and crossovers examples Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Talvin Singh, Gotan Project, Musafir, Tabla Beat Science, Ba Cissoko, Talib Kweli, i have an endless list of obscure stuff that not a lot of people i know have ever heard of ... Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Shirin Neshat (Iran visual artist) and just generally bent drum n bass, techno and rap from Russia, Japan, Romania, Irsrael etc etc - the list is endless

anyways - point being is that im hoping that if i get a show i will have freedom to play what the hell i like - -so is anyone interested to send me some of their tunes in the future and if i like it and have time to fit stuff on the show i will do it

i have to find out how the heads of the new station will deal with paying air play royalties etc but i guess a lot of people may not be too worried about that

cheers

ohh yes, ninety nine... they're good.

I'd love to go to airwaves... looks like such an awesome festival... and if it's scattered amongst the bars of Reykjavik, it's gotta be amazing.

maybe next year.... i'm planning a European tour with my band from July next year.

Thought I'd just add a link to my music too.
For a quick listen go to http://www.myspace.com/bramstadhouders
For downloads to www.bramstadhouders.nl

Live improvisations! (using ableton of course), with a drummer and keyboard player.

Thanks!
