Well I'm not exactly buying it, but I am getting it from my komplete care 2006, which upgrades my komplete 3 to komplete 4 for free (
), and I am very stoked about it!
Having distortion, compression, delay and reverb per channel is awesome. Means I can keep everything in one interface without a bunch of routing. Having convolution is great too.
Another thing I like about having it in a separate window is that you can see your drum parameters at the same time as your sequence, and you can hit a pad to remind what sound was on what note. With impulse, you can't see the device at the same time as the midi sequence.
You can get the same results with racks pretty much, it just depends how you like to work.

yeah, mostly with the big kits such as the full Orch...so if you are running a heavy mix..don't even think of loading something like that in to your project. ..(you probably know that)..but i wish someone had told me that at first..talk about panicLiveXXX wrote:Question... There was some kind of bug before the recent software update for Battery 2. I have a big default kit, it would take 45+ seconds to load just the kit.Question... I have lots of kits on my Battery 2 folder and everytime I load a project that uses Battery it takes a while to load.. I even get a progess bar...
Does this happen to you to?
After the update, voila! It took maybe 15 seconds to load.
That lasted a month or two, now it's back to 45 seconds. I don't get it.
I believe it had something to do with the default kit file path. But i don't understand how a fixed bug can get buggy again.
Another thing thats weird is how, for each Live set, there seems to be a separate Battery kit file stored. If i edit the kit, it is for that Live set only, it doesnt effect the kit in the Battery library, and vice versa. When I save the Live set, it saves that version of the kit. I have never found any evidence of these ghost kit files in any directories. If i go into that kit within the Live set and save it specifically, then it writes to the Battery library.
Matbe this is standard for VST's. This is the only one i use.

Yes, hosts will generally remember the settings of plug-ins when you save the song, without needing to save the plug-in patch. This goes for synths, samplers or whatever. A new kit is not saved anywhere when you save the song, the settings are just maintained. That includes what sample is "in" a cell. The sample isn't actually loaded into a kit, it merely references a location of a sample on your hardrive, and as long as that sample is in the same place, it will load again without having to be saved with the samples. The original kit still references whatever samples the kit was saved with.GaryTracks wrote:There was some kind of bug before the recent software update for Battery 2. I stopped using Battery II because it would always "forget" the EQ and comp settings whenever I loaded it up.
I mean, EVERY time. I would save the kit - I would save the live set with the newly saved kit in it - and when I re-opened it, all my eq and comp settings were restored to defaults.
What a pain. I gave up.
Has this been rectified in Battery III? Cause if not, I'm selling my licenses to all my NI products and just sticking with Live's internal stuff.

no, you're wrong
it comes with a metric shit ton of samples to the cube power all to the quad power plus 1
i.e.
basically, more samples than people in China
Battery is always a good bet - people rarely are disappointed in the app - lots of quality samples, does what it says its suppose to and is supper easy to use, navigate and create
I'm getting it

M. Bréqs, that was a problem that really bugged me too. But when NI came out with the latest update for Battery 2 (2.1.5, I believe) it fixed the problem.
But what sucked was that the fix only came a few weeks before the announcement of Battery 3. Oh well, the racks in Live 6 makes it easier to put together kits and sounds, so I don't think I need Battery 3. Also, I don't know what kind of bugs B3 will have, and it will probably take forever to get fixed too.

Thing about using racks though, is that you still need to output to several tracks to use send effects like reverb/delay. It's nice that battery has sends per cell, not to mention compression, eq, looping within the sample etc.
And like I said, having the window floating (and customizable) is a big plus for me.
Oh and also, the new articulations look really cool! Flams, midi echo, pushing/lagging hits, etc. This rocks. I think there might be some resample thing too. or am I imagining that?....
I can't wait.

With the racks, I set up sub-racks for the snare, kick, etc. And I use several instances of Simpler instead of Impulse, so I can easily layer hits. So the snare is in its own subrack, and if I want reverb/delay on only the snare, I just add it to the end of the snare sub-rack.
And so far, I do have one instance of Impulse in the rack, so I can use the choke on the hi-hats.
The racks make it easy to rename the notes in the midi editor too, so that's a plus.
But of course, I just paid for the Live upgrade, and I would rather not pay again to upgrade another program if it can be helped.
