I Just Got My Macbook 30 Min. Ago... peep this.
ok i just received my Lt 30 min ago via ups..It's a 2.0 blackbook I haven't opened up the box yet! i'm a little uncomfortable....
here's my first qualm.... my macbook only has 512 megs of ram and a 60gig harddrive.
besides the fact that that's what I could afford... what do you think about that, how dis-satisfied would you be with your macbook in that regard.
I'm used to 2gigs ram and i've got 5 hard drives- 1 500gig and 4 350gig drives this is all connected to my desktop, but my desktop is an old amd 3500
my second qualm; I don't know what to expect...I admit that I got the macbook to mainly run windows xp on, but I'm going to run some nice free apps that i've found for macs and also i'm probably going to run metasynth
but!!!....out of the box how happy can i expect to be about it?, is it just going to fly even with the low ram and harddrive, is it easy to replace the hard drive myself I was thinking about picking one up from frys electronics, anybody have a recommendation for which one to get?
maybe some ram recommendations too if you gott'em

Leave the harddrive alone. Use external drives to expand disk space. You can always upgrade your ram later when you get the money for it. It will run Live with only 512megs of ram. I'm not shure how much its going to hinder performance though.
When I got my Powerbook I also got 2gigs of ram to install the same day. So I don't have a clue what 512 is like.

why do you say leave the hard drive alone, i'm familiar with installing drives and peripherals on desktops, but if that's not what you meant sub, what did'ja mean..
i plan on using one of my external drives with it but when i'm out an about i like to be as light as possible.
i hope you cats know where i'm comin from..
it's my first mac since a 600mhz ibook way back tha fuck when..
so when turn it on is a bunch of unecessary shit gonna piss me off?
do i need to do some tweakin?
is the isight camera good enough to record some lo-fi quality vids?
and is it easy to edit them on the videoware... i've never done it.

so...are you just sitting there looking at the box asking yourself these questions NOW ?!
i don't get it: you couldn't be bothered to find out the answers to your questions before you bought the thing, and now that you have it, you still can't be bothered to just turn the thing on and figure it out for yourself ?
ok then...yes. it will totally piss you off. nothing will work. in fact, your other computer will stop working too.you should probably send your macbook to am while it's still in the box and before it causes your other computer to start malfunctioning because you've plugged it in wrong (haven't you read all the mac threads about this ?...it's true).
