LIVE eating up my cpu!!!!

Why, when i use LIVE for about 30 min or so do i get distorted sound??? My task manager processes shows LIVE running really high and i don't know why. I ran a demo song and the set was running at 30%, then 1/4 of the way through i would get distortion and LIVE would freeze up. Anyone having this problem? Can somebody show me how to reduce CPU usage while running LIVE?
