Live 6 Crackling sound

I have noticed a "crackling" sound since I upgraded to Live 6 from 5.

1G Ram
XP

using M-Audio Axiom 25.

The crackling gets slightly worse with higher CPU usage.

Also, CPU cannot seem to handle 4 Audio tracks and 2 Midi tracks. Stutters at 5 tracks, and barely plays at 6 tracks.

Any solutions? Tech support has not been much help.

No, I have triple checked that the latency matches that of my previous version.

Have you gotten any other answers to this problem ?
I have noticed the same exact problem. I have done some testing and reconfiguration to see if it has to do with digital sync or buffer size, and it doesn't seem to alter the situation. When I change the latency setting for number samples, it sounds ok for a few, and then the crackling comes to bear once again. I think it may be a problem with buffers, but it seems to be somewhere buried in the programming; perhaps some conflicting variables or something like that.

I even tried setting a digital sync via wordclock, but nothing seems to positively affect it, much less resolve it. I continue to hammer away at it, but it's frustrating. I attempt to do so with the minimal amount of draw on the system.

I have played things from a MIDI keyboard through Live with Sampler, through Live via MIDI to an external module with ADAT output coming back into my Steinberg VSL2020 soundcard, I have changed the latency settings all over the map, and it always and consistently seems to have no positive effect on the audio signal. If I record onto a clip, the offending crackle is still evident. I also tried to go ADAT out to another sound card on another PC, and the audio to that PC still had intermittent but persistent crackle.

It would be more than wonderful to see this bug resolved, and soon !

Maybe try a Windows-ish solution: reinstall/update drivers.
