time-stretch BYPASS for indiv tracks.
i wish i could turn OFF the auto time stretch for long files that aren't rhythmic. in otherwords, a way to have as-is palyback on a single channel with no artififacts.
thanks!
thanks!
yes, this would be great
Yes, i agree, an option to tun off time-stretch would be great. I use live as a sequencer like protools and usaually write whole songs with long bass and analog keyboard tracks and i feel the sound quality of my recordings would be better if this could be turned off on individual tracks.

yes, you can adjust the tempo to be close but still, complex tones such as real piano or strings get all squishy (not in a good way) from being stretched or pushed. the artifacts are really annoying. and besides, many times i'd just like to lay-in a gesture that's a little out of time!!

All that is required is to type the exact currentpsm wrote: yes, you can adjust the tempo to be close but still, complex tones such as real piano or strings get all squishy
tempo in the clip view. Then the clip will be
played back exactly as on disk, without
squishiness, provided you type the exact
current Live tempo.
The only problems with this are that it is annoying to have to re-enter the current tempo when it is changed, and that it may require that you adjust the loop markers in the clip view.
In time, it will be fixed, though, of course!

I agree, this capability should already exist! If not for individual tracks, then on a global parameters level. I'm trying to use Live for performance of songs I've already created elsewhere (ProTools in my case). So I already know the tempo, and ALL the clips are at that tempo, so why mess around?! Turn of time warping and free up CPU power and avoid artefacts.......

timestrech
... as Yon said :
"In time, it will be fixed, though, of course!"
we know that you do not allways want the timestrech ( me neither ! ) but the problem is more complex then it seems to be in the first place ( -> do you want to change the length of the file or do you want to pitch it if the tempo changes, what happens in the arrangement view etc.etc..) but :

In principle it is already true that if
you are playing back at the original common
tempo (shared by all clips ), absolutely
no artifacts should be produced.
However, this is only strictly true if the
tempo is exactly correct; your mileage may vary.
Let me know if you believe you are experiencing
artifacts under these conditions.

Tempo / Warping
Hello Robert Henke and Yon, here is a clear example of how to solve the problem.
In the clip parameters, include an option to make the sample 'Tempo Independant'. You could put the button at the bottom of the Warp box or in the right corner of its title bar, clicking it would make the parameters gray out. Changing the global tempo would *not* alter the length or pitch of the clip, it will simply play from its start point until stopped. Basically it would function as if it were in Logic or other standard sequencer, start flag and loop brackets would remain minus the warping. We just want to trigger a sample to play!

Tempo / Warping
Hello High Tom,
the good news: we are working on it ( Yon mostly to be precise ) and other related stuff. the bad news : it is more complicted then it seems to be. Now the waveform display in the arranger does not change if you change the tempo. If some of the samples are _not streched then their waveform views have to be recalculated every time you change the tempo. This is only one example of little details which keep us busy every day and make some of the very obvious things on the whishlist a difficult and unfortunately time consuming job....
