Hello All,
I was wondering if any one can help...
Setup,
DJM800 - Master out to Amp Midi to Midi In on Sound Card
CDj1000 - Digital to DJM Chanel 3 + 4
PC - M-Audiophile 2496 (Internal) Phono from Wav out to DJM Channel 2
Amstrad (very old) Midi Keyboard.
Right couple of problems, first of all i have read lots of posts which mention setup of Albeton but no one mentions wireing config... so this may be my issue.
Djing with Ableton.
I may have this a little wrong but what good is haveing 2 channels in ableton running in to one channel on the mixer ? If you are using 2 cdjs and you have 2 spare channels, but one is taking up the whole computer (output) in, you can not use this as one of the track faders as it will kill all the audio... can you not have 2 seperate audio tracks leaving the computer and in to there own chanel say 1 and 2 on the mixer ?
Does this require a second audio card ? or just better than the audiophile 2496 ?
Can i use the Digtal out for one track and the Wav out for the second ?
Also where do the monitor (headphones) plug into so there not heard on the output ?
Midi Sync.
Does ableton and the DJM out of the box Time Sync ? ie have one cdj playing and the track that you start in ableton automaticly syncs time ? it seems to start ok but soon falls out... Do i need another peice of hardware ?
Keyboard.
is it possible to have my keyboard as an input and the DJM on the midi ? can i make use of the original midi and purchase a D conecter to Midi and have the keyboard on the second set of midi conecters ? or am i way out ?
Anyone know of a diagram of wireing config for the "Dj Setup"
Thanks for you time in reading this, all comments and advice welcome...
Cheers,
Sean

The audiophile is a 2in 2out duplex card. You might for example be able to send a channel out via your spdif port, Or you could try running the two outs that you do have as two separate channels, but they would be mono.Netman wrote:

If you want more stereo channels you're going to need either a soundcard with more outs or another 24/96.
no, unless you mean you have a second soundcard that you have not mentioned.Netman wrote: Can i use the Digtal out for one track and the Wav out for the second ?
on your mixer maybe?Netman wrote: Also where do the monitor (headphones) plug into so there not heard on the output ?
There is such a thing as drift. You should read up on this.Netman wrote: Midi Sync.

Does your djm have midi? does it have a midi-thru port? does your keyboard have a midi through port? to plug two devices into a single midi port you would daisy chain them one into the other via a midi thru portNetman wrote: Keyboard.

the second midi connector on your soundcard is for midi out. So you would use that to control the keyboard from ableton for example, to use your keyboard as a sound module. However I think you do not wish to do this, but instead wish to use your keyboard as a controller.
Again to get more midi ins you're going to need a midi-thru connection on something connected to your midi in, or a second midi in connection, (probably on another device or soundcard)
