Damn BCR2000 Sysex Error - ER22 :-(

Post by Kodama » Wed Nov 01, 2006 6:09 am

Can't send syx files via:

Live

SendSx

BCedit (under Java 1.402 or 1.5)

Midi-OX

Birdie BC Editor

Tried different firm ware versions, 2 different pcs, different cables, midi mode via another device....

Anyone run into this fun?

I have big plans for this thing, but useless for a month now.

midi ox has worked for me many times with the bcr, all the others are broken, although the Abes have stated that the bcr dump IS fixed in the next release.

what/how does the midi ox dump fail? can you monitor knob movements from the bcr to ensure it's connected right?

Yep I can tell that it's connected in Midi-Ox when I turn knobs, etc...

I've tried via midi alone and via several usb cables.

Usually the spinning dashes will cycle twice on the bcr when it's receiving a dump (hehe) then it shows "ER22".

Half (or more) of the knobs will then have no message.

When I use Birdie, it gives no error message, but the knobs get screwed up anyways.

birdie never worked for me either and behringer should be fucking ashamed that they gave customers an alpha release java file to load presets, there's no pride in that. <feel my bitterness>

just tried it
open midi ox
it sees bcr activity already, no setup for me there
menu actions->send->sysex file
select this file
C:\Program Files\Ableton\Live 6.0.1\Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts\BCR2000\preset.syx

do nothing to the bcr
you should see the same light dance as the Live 'dump' button but much slower.

Ya been there, right after the light dance, I get "ER22" on the BCR and it all goes to crap :(

damn that sucks. is the bcr updated to the latest firmware? 1.10 I think
try a different usb port, different machine. sounds like the cable is ok. maybe detach any other usb devices, dunno man.

When in doubt... Try it on a mac.
That way you can be sure if its the PC or the BCR thats acting up.

On mac i use "sysex librarian" to send files. Works like a charm every time.

I posted this response in another thread. The solution worked for me. YMMV

hello
I reply to this old post.
I can send the sysex file to the BCR by using MIDI OX.
It's quite long. Because by default, midiox waits 60ms between each buffer to be sent. set the value to 5 ms makes things faster and still functional.

Yeah but the bcr is still a great controller. Recently bought a new one and use it all the time on lve gigs.
Not many new controllers have the same flexibilty and fast encoders of the bcr. Also have push2 so these 2 controllers work nicely together. Only takes a long time set it up. Anyone knows how to make a backup off the bcr on osx. can,t get this 2 work.
